For many years we have supported patients from around the world with personal medical advice. We started in the University Hospital in Maastricht where Prof. Maurice van Steensel acted as a central medical specialist. Unfortunately Maurice is no longer available for this individual consultations, but we have found a very good replacement!

Prof. Dr. Suzanne Pasmas, also one of our medical advisors, is part of the WEVAR (working group of vascular anomalies Rotterdam) team which is located in the Erasmus MC-Sophia children's Hospital in Rotterdam (Netherlands). In this team there are specialties together within the children's-surgical group. This partnership ensures optimal cooperation in terms of content and allows the maximum use of available capacity. The specialties belonging to the children's-surgical group are: children's anesthesia, dermatology, oral surgery, paediatric surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, thorax and urology. The WEVAR team was expanded in the third quarter of 2015 with a mature multidisciplinary team.
The total team consists of about 25 medical specialists.

Through our organization, patients may also use the knowledge and experience within this team, for example, receiving personal medical advice. The first patient from our organization that has used this option came from Chile. Below is a brief description of this procedure:

  1. Send an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the request for a personal medical advice. Be specific in the question to this request.
  2. Our organization will contact the WEVAR team.
  3. The WEVAR team will check and the further course of events we as an organization are no longer involved with.
  4. The request for data for a medical advice is placed.
  5. The medical data, such as reports and photos, are submitted by the patient (or parents of the patient) loaded in a secure environment where the patient determines who has access. These data are accessible worldwide for only those individuals who are authorized by the patient. This is in fact an electronic patient record but the big difference is that the patient owns and determines who has access.
  6. After analysis by the medical specialists is decided what is taken as a visit to the WEVAR team.
  7. The financial arrangements from the WEVAR team and, if necessary, an appointment scheduled for a visit to the WEVAR team in Rotterdam.
  8. We as an organization and the WEVAR team like to hear what went well and what could better during such session

We hope with this service to many patients and their family members can help!
